LaCie Rugged Mini Key Specs
Storage Capacity: 1TB
This drive holds 1 terabyte of data. You get enough space for thousands of photos, hundreds of videos, or a full operating system backup. For NAS users, this is a single unit capacity. Compare this against larger multi-bay NAS drives that offer multiple terabytes. If you need to store massive media libraries, you may need more space than this single drive provides.
Hardware Interface: USB 3.0
The drive connects via USB 3.0 ports. This interface allows for faster data transfer speeds compared to older USB 2.0 connections. You benefit from quicker file copies and backups. When shopping for NAS drives, check for USB 3.0 or higher interfaces to ensure efficient performance. This standard is widely supported by modern computers, Macs, and many mobile devices.
Form Factor: 2.5"
The drive uses a 2.5-inch form factor, which is the standard size for laptop hard drives. This makes the unit compact and portable. You can easily slip it into a bag. NAS drives often use larger 3.5-inch drives for stationary use. If you need a drive that travels with you, this smaller form factor is ideal for mobile workflows and on-the-go storage.
Weight: 9.88 ounces
The unit weighs 9.88 ounces. This light weight makes it easy to carry in a backpack or briefcase without adding significant bulk. You can transport it frequently without fatigue. Compare this to heavier desktop NAS units that require a dedicated power supply and desk space. For mobile professionals, this low weight is a practical advantage for daily travel.
