You might be looking for seagate exos st24000nm001c 24tb 7200rpm alternatives because this drive has specific strengths that do not fit every setup. The Seagate Exos 24TB Renewed SATA HDD offers 24TB of capacity with 7200 RPM rotational speed and 512MB cache. Its CMR recording technology ensures consistent performance for large file transfers. PowerChoice and PowerBalance technologies help manage energy use efficiently. These specs make it a solid choice for high-capacity NAS archives where reliability matters more than raw speed.
However, you may need different specifications. Some users prefer smaller capacities like 14TB or 18TB to fit more drives into a single chassis. Others might prioritize helium-filled designs for better thermal management in multi-bay systems. You could also want a different brand or a new drive instead of a renewed one. We selected 6 alternatives because their published specifications overlap with the original drive. Each option shares key traits like 3.5-inch form factor, SATA interface, and CMR technology. This list helps you compare options based on actual data rather than marketing claims.
How each alternative compares
Seagate Exos 26TB CMR Hard Drive
The Seagate Exos 26TB CMR Hard Drive increases your storage density by two terabytes compared to the 24TB model. It maintains the same 7200 RPM spindle speed and 512MB cache, ensuring consistent performance for continuous workloads. This drive is ideal if you need to maximize capacity in your NAS without changing your interface or rotational speed expectations. You gain extra space for archives while keeping the CMR reliability that supports large file transfers. If your chassis supports the larger capacity and you prioritize density over the slightly lower cost of the 24TB unit, this is the logical upgrade path for high-capacity enterprise storage.
Western Digital Ultrastar 14TB 512MB Cache HDD
The Western Digital Ultrastar 14TB 512MB Cache HDD offers significantly less capacity than the 24TB Seagate, but it includes specific vibration protection features. This drive is designed for multi-bay NAS systems where stability matters more than raw size. It retains the 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache, matching the performance profile of the original. You should choose this alternative if you are building a dense array and need to mitigate rotational vibration effects. It provides a practical balance of enterprise reliability and budget efficiency for users who do not require the maximum possible terabytes in a single drive.
Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Hard Drive
The Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Hard Drive reduces your storage capacity by six terabytes compared to the 24TB model. It keeps the same 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache, offering identical performance characteristics for enterprise tasks. This option is suitable if you find that 18TB is sufficient for your needs and want to save space or cost. It fits well in systems where renewed drives provide better value without sacrificing rotational speed or cache size. You trade capacity for potential savings while maintaining the CMR reliability and power management features found in the larger Exos drive.
HP Western Digital Ultrastar 18TB 7200 RPM HDD
The HP Western Digital Ultrastar 18TB 7200 RPM HDD uses helium technology to improve efficiency, which differs from the air-filled 24TB drive. It offers less capacity but focuses on workload endurance and energy efficiency. Like the original, it provides 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache for consistent performance. This drive is a solid choice if you prioritize enterprise features and helium cooling over maximum storage density. It fits systems where 18TB is adequate and you want the benefits of helium technology for lower power consumption and heat generation in a multi-bay NAS environment.
Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Enterprise Hard Drive
The Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Enterprise Hard Drive matches the 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache of the 24TB model but with less total storage. It emphasizes CMR reliability and substantial cache for consistent performance with large files. You should pick this alternative if you do not need the full 24TB and prefer the value of a renewed drive. It offers the same rotational speed and interface compatibility, making it a direct performance match with reduced capacity. This is a practical option for users who prioritize cache and reliability over the highest possible terabyte count in their NAS builds.
Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC530 14TB HDD
The Western Digital Ultrastar DC HC530 14TB HDD provides much lower capacity than the 24TB Seagate but includes rotational vibration safeguard technology. It maintains the 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache, ensuring similar performance for enterprise workloads. This drive is best for users who need enterprise reliability in a smaller package and prioritize vibration protection in multi-bay setups. You give up significant storage space for enhanced stability and workload endurance. It is a suitable alternative if your NAS chassis benefits from vibration mitigation and you do not require the maximum density offered by the larger Exos drive.

Frequently asked questions
Which drive offers the highest capacity in this list?
The Seagate Exos 26TB CMR Hard Drive provides the maximum storage capacity at 26TB. It maintains 7200 RPM rotational speed and 512MB cache. This configuration suits users who need to maximize density in their NAS while keeping performance consistent for heavy, continuous workloads.
Are there helium-filled options available?
Yes, the HP Western Digital Ultrastar 18TB 7200 RPM HDD uses helium technology. Helium drives reduce internal friction, which improves energy efficiency and reliability. This model fits well in systems where enterprise features and workload endurance are more important than raw capacity.
Which drive is best for multi-bay NAS setups?
The Western Digital Ultrastar 14TB 512MB Cache HDD is designed for multi-bay systems. It includes vibration protection features to maintain stability when multiple drives operate together. This makes it a practical choice for users who prioritize reliability and budget over maximum single-drive size.
Is there a renewed option with 18TB capacity?
Two renewed 18TB drives are listed. The Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Hard Drive and the Seagate Exos 18TB Renewed Enterprise Hard Drive both offer 7200 RPM speed and 512MB cache. These options provide solid enterprise performance for users who find 18TB sufficient for their needs.
Do all these drives use CMR technology?
The Seagate Exos 26TB explicitly lists CMR recording technology. The Seagate Exos 24TB and 18TB models also use CMR, ensuring reliable sequential writes. CMR is preferred for NAS environments because it avoids the performance penalties often associated with SMR drives in multi-drive arrays.
What is the cache size for these enterprise drives?
Every drive in this list features a 512MB cache. This buffer helps manage data flow between the platters and the SATA interface. A larger cache improves performance during large file transfers and complex RAID operations by reducing the number of direct platter accesses required.
Which drive is best for high-capacity archives?
The Seagate Exos 24TB Renewed SATA HDD is ideal for high-capacity archives. It delivers 24TB of storage with 7200 RPM speed. This combination prioritizes capacity and density over raw speed, making it suitable for NAS builds where storing large volumes of data is the main goal.
