The Seagate One Touch 1TB Encrypted External HDD provides secure, password-activated hardware encryption in a sleek, minimalist metal case. It connects via USB 3.0 and weighs just 5.22 ounces, making it a practical choice for users who prioritize data protection and simple automated backups on standard USB-A systems. If you are searching for seagate one touch 1tb encrypted alternatives, you may need a drive that fits a different form factor or offers specific port compatibility.
This guide presents 6 alternatives chosen because their specifications overlap with the original model. You might prefer a thinner profile, a different color, or a drive that includes a silicone sleeve for extra physical protection. Some options feature USB-C ports for modern laptops, while others focus on console gaming compatibility. Each selection is ranked by how well its specs, such as size, interface, and weight, match your specific needs. You can compare these drives to find the right balance of security, portability, and price for your setup.
How each alternative compares
Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB USB 3.0
The Seagate Backup Plus Slim 1TB drops hardware encryption to achieve a thinner 0.38-inch profile, compared to the One Touch’s 0.46-inch height. It retains the USB 3.0 interface and PC/Mac compatibility. You gain a slightly slimmer device for easier pocket carry, but lose the password-protected security layer. This model suits users who prioritize physical thinness and included software perks over data encryption. The weight is nearly identical at 5.28 ounces. If your primary concern is keeping your drive slim rather than securing the data with hardware encryption, this is the practical swap. It offers solid basic storage without the bulk of thicker enclosures.
YOTUO 1TB Portable Hard Drive with Silicone Sleeve
The YOTUO 1TB Portable Hard Drive introduces a silicone sleeve for physical protection, a feature absent in the metal-cased One Touch. It supports both USB 3.0 and USB-C interfaces, offering more cable flexibility than the One Touch’s single USB 3.0 port. It also explicitly lists compatibility with PS4 and Xbox consoles, whereas the One Touch is focused on PC and Mac. The drive is slightly lighter at 4.8 ounces and thicker at 0.7 inches. You trade hardware encryption for ruggedness and gaming compatibility. This option is ideal for travelers or gamers who need a drive that survives bumps and works with consoles, rather than those needing secure, encrypted backups on computers.
Seagate Portable 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive
The Seagate Portable 1TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive removes hardware encryption entirely to focus on basic portability. It maintains USB 3.0 connectivity and adds Xbox compatibility, which the One Touch lacks. The drive is slightly larger at 0.58 inches high and heavier at 6.7 ounces. You give up password-activated security for a simpler, lighter setup that works seamlessly with gaming consoles. This model is best for users who prioritize broad device compatibility and straightforward plug-and-play functionality over data protection features. If you do not need encrypted storage and want to use the drive with an Xbox, this is the more versatile choice despite the increased weight and size.
Seagate One Touch 1TB Portable External Hard Drive
The Seagate One Touch 1TB Portable External Hard Drive shares the same sleek metal design and USB 3.0 interface but omits hardware encryption. It keeps the 1TB capacity and PC/Mac compatibility. You gain access to included creative software subscriptions like Mylio Photos and Dropbox, which are not highlighted in the encrypted version. The dimensions and weight remain identical at 0.46 inches and 5.22 ounces. This model suits users who value software perks and aesthetic design over security. If you prefer bundled creative tools and do not require password-activated hardware encryption, this variant offers the same physical form factor with different software benefits.
Toshiba Canvio Flex 1TB USB-C Portable Drive
The Toshiba Canvio Flex 1TB USB-C Portable Drive replaces the USB 3.0 port with USB-C support, offering modern connectivity that the One Touch lacks. It maintains 1TB capacity and PC/Mac compatibility. The drive is slightly thicker at 0.53 inches and weighs 5.28 ounces. You trade hardware encryption for cable versatility and cross-platform flexibility. This model is ideal for users who need a lightweight drive that works seamlessly with newer USB-C devices. If your workflow involves frequent connection to USB-C ports and you do not require encrypted storage, this drive provides a practical, flexible alternative with comparable portability and basic performance.
Toshiba Canvio Gaming 1TB External Hard Drive
The Toshiba Canvio Gaming 1TB External Hard Drive targets console gamers with explicit Xbox compatibility, a feature the One Touch does not list. It uses a USB 3.0 interface and retains 1TB capacity. The drive is significantly thicker at 0.8 inches and slightly lighter at 5.28 ounces. You give up hardware encryption and the minimalist metal design for a rugged build suited for gaming. This model is best for users who prioritize responsive performance for console games over data security. If you need portable storage primarily for Xbox and do not require encrypted backups on PC or Mac, this drive offers a specialized solution tailored for gaming environments.
