How Alternatives Compare to OSENTRiX
LaCie 2big Dock 8TB External RAID Drive
The LaCie 2big Dock 8TB offers Thunderbolt 3 connectivity for significantly higher bandwidth than the OSENTRiX BX100’s USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. It includes built-in card slots for direct media ingestion, a feature the OSENTRiX lacks. While it provides RAID reliability for data protection, you get half the storage capacity at 8TB. This drive suits professionals who prioritize speed and workflow efficiency over raw terabyte counts. Its slightly heavier build at 4.65 pounds reflects its robust internal components. If you need fast ingestion and redundancy, this is a strong alternative.
LaCie Mobile Drive 2TB USB-C External HDD
The LaCie Mobile Drive 2TB USB-C is designed for portability rather than stationary use. It weighs just 7.05 ounces and fits easily in a bag, unlike the bulky 3-pound OSENTRiX BX100. You sacrifice massive capacity for this convenience, getting only 2TB compared to 16TB. It supports both Mac and PC systems with a compact aluminum design. This option is ideal if you travel frequently or need a secondary drive for quick backups on the go. It is not suitable for users who require a permanent, high-capacity desktop storage solution for large media libraries.
LaCie 2big RAID 16TB Desktop Hard Drive
The LaCie 2big RAID 16TB Desktop matches the OSENTRiX BX100 in capacity but adds RAID capabilities for enhanced data safety. It uses a 7200 RPM drive and USB-C interface similar to the OSENTRiX. However, it is significantly narrower at 3.67 inches wide, offering a different footprint for your desk. This drive is built for creators who need both high capacity and redundancy. It supports both Mac and PC systems. If you are willing to pay more for enterprise-grade reliability and RAID options, this is a superior choice. It sacrifices some silent operation benefits for robust performance.
LaCie Mobile Drive 5TB Portable HDD
The LaCie Mobile Drive 5TB Portable HDD features Thunderbolt 3 support, providing faster potential transfer speeds than the OSENTRiX BX100’s USB 3.2 Gen 2. It is compact and lightweight at 10.6 ounces, making it highly portable compared to the desktop OSENTRiX. You get 5TB of storage, which is significantly less than 16TB. It works with both Mac and PC systems. This drive is best for users who need speed and portability in a small form factor. It is not ideal for stationary setups requiring massive storage. The aluminum cladding adds durability for travel.
Seagate One Touch Hub 8TB External Hard Drive
The Seagate One Touch Hub 8TB Desktop includes an integrated USB hub, allowing you to charge devices while accessing files. This adds convenience not found in the OSENTRiX BX100. You get 8TB of storage, half the capacity of the OSENTRiX. It uses USB 3.0 and USB-C interfaces. The drive is slightly lighter at 2.73 pounds and has a similar desktop footprint. It supports both Mac and PC systems. This option suits users who need extra USB ports for peripherals. If you prioritize hub functionality and security features over maximum storage capacity, this is a practical alternative.
SanDisk Professional 4TB G-DRIVE Desktop Hard Drive
The SanDisk Professional 4TB G-DRIVE Desktop is tailored for Mac users with Time Machine compatibility. It offers USB-C connectivity similar to the OSENTRiX BX100. However, you get only 4TB of storage, significantly less than 16TB. It is compact and lightweight at 2.38 pounds. The drive supports laptop charging via USB-C, a feature the OSENTRiX lacks. It is designed for Mac ecosystems and may not be ideal for Windows-only users. This option is best for Mac users who need reliable, enterprise-grade storage for backups. It sacrifices capacity for specialized Mac integration and portability.
